CAPACITY OF SOIL FOR BEARING THE LOAD OF BUILDINGS:

CAPACITY OF SOIL FOR BEARING THE LOAD OF BUILDINGS:

Soil is said to be the strata which plays the important role in the bearing the load of the building such as the soil of the desert has enough capacity to the load of the high rises buildings because they will cause penetration due to the higher load so in United Arab Emirates (UAE) the high rise buildings consumes tonns of water to increase the bearing capacity of soil to bear the load of buildigs.

So before the construction of a building or any big project, the study of the soil or starta is performed by conducting the process of borelog. In which they do the excavation where the watertable, mining and the behavoiur of soil consistency is observed. Then the reports are to prepared in which the observations which are judged by the civil engineers or geologists mentioned on the report. And after that the decision is taken whether the building is to be constructed or not.In the hilly areas the wooden houses are constructed due to the slopes in mountainous regions.

The study of soil also involves the study of geological and countouring maps because it analysis the accessibility of the construction routes such as highways and motorways. Before the development of the highway or motorway we observe that if the terrain is rocky so it is very good in capacity to bear the load of heavy vehicles. So the cut and fill process to construct the pavements.Low soil-bearing capacity is not the end of the structure. But there are the alternative solutions such as pile foundations are designed to hold and bear the loads of the buildings properly. The pile foundation are fitted on the deeper than a normal footing.Because these footings are designed for the soil-pile-structure interaction.Pile foundations are used in the construction of bridges, highrise buildings and industrial building.
