RESISTANCE FROM CRACKS IN BEAMS

 RESISTANCE FROM CRACKS IN BEAMS:

Concrete is the material which has compressive property. It is the brittle material which lead to sudden cracks in the structural components such as beam and columns. In beam the inclined cracks appear are the shear cracks. But they are resisted or controlled at side of compression zone because of the placement of reinforcements. This is the reason the beam bearing capacity increases and is able to bear large amount of  loads. The reason of bending is because of existence of steel reinforcements are placed.

Types and Remedies of Cracks in Concrete

If there chance of load applied from opposite direction. This problem occurs in the old structural houses. The hoging cases also appears in the ships and under ground water tanks of houses because of the load applied by the water in the opposite direction. So to eradicate this steel bars are also placed on the tension zone. The cracks which appears on the center of the beam are flexural cracks. The flexural appears due to the bending moments takes place.

So to remove the inclined crackings also we have to place bar perpendicular to the cross crack side which elimate the problem of shear cracking and will increase the strength of beams.Because as a result steel reinforcement will do the resistance resulting the increase in the strength of the beams. The function of the stirups are also same to perform the resistance against bulking on the beams and columns.
