Precision Of Surveying Equipment:

Before doing the construction in a site. A survey is performed in a site to review the conditions of terrain that whether it is plan or hilly. Because survey describes the level of the ground surface before the construction of building or road. The precision of the equipment gives the more dimension of the terrain or the precise volume of the cut or fill. So the equipment are used to minimize the error i.e human or technical. The following are the surveying equipment which are discussed below:
  • Theodolite
  • Drone
  • GPS(Global Positioning System)
  • Total Station
  • Laser Distance Meter(LDM)
  • Theodolite:


Theodolite is a device which assures the accuracy in the framework for the precise mapping. It consist of a telescope pivoted with horizontal and vertical axes both. It measures the angle with the smaller intervals of 10 to 20minutes. By also repeating the process of the averaging to ensure the precision of the readings in it. For the measuring the precise long-range distance work, signaling lamps or heliographs reflecting the sun used as targets for the theodolite to ensure the precision in the long-range distances.
  • Drone:

Drones can be more precise in terms of measurements of the land or terrain because it can also take the readings of the elevations of the tough terrains such as mountaineous areas. Basically, drones can perform both i.e topographic and land surveys. The efficiency of the drone is more than the field surveys because the field work is very slow as compare to the surveys conducted by the drones. In field works there is a lot of movements of the equipment such movements of the total stations in tough terrains for yielding the elevations. And the drones by having the aerial view of the terrain can take readings with the reduction in time. The precision of the drone readings in the surveying is more efficient than the total stations. Total stations can give the errors that can be human and technical.  
  
  • GPS(Global Positioning System):

No doubt, The GPS devices such as G4 GNSS, GPS receivers gives the very precise values. If we compare the normal readings with the GPS coordinates we will prefer the GPS coordinates due to its precision. It also calculates the measurements of the terrain quickly as compare to measurements taken by the surveyor. This will definitely saves a lot time of the surveyor because when the surveyor measures the readings takes time of many hours.
 
  1. Total Station

Total stations are the sophisticated equipment that can also measure the angles and the distances along with the functions of the theodolite combined in it with the help of the electronic distance meter(EDM). These devices are very crucial for used in creating the detailed and precise topographic maps, construction projects and various survey tasks. The precision of the device can be determined by the measurements of angles nearest to the second and distance to a fraction of a millimeter. They performs operations in the site so can be the chances of the error. Which can be eradicated by performing the corrections.   

  • Laser Distance Meter(LDM):

    Laser Distance Meter(LDM) is the device which is also used in the construction field works. They are used in measuring the angles, areas and volumes in terrain. The advantage of this device is that there is no need of the other person for the handling of the equipment for ensuring the precision. It can easily be used by the single person in any kind of terrain. The range of this device is from 120m.We can also calculate the indoors space or volume and can also check the dimension and measurements.
